This Minnesota legislative bill, proposed by Representatives Burkel and Gander, aims to allocate funds for a program called the River Watch Program. The bill designates $170,000 for each of the fiscal years 2026 and 2027. This money, taken from the clean water fund, will be given to the commissioner of the Pollution Control Agency. The funds are then meant to be used as grants for the Red River Watershed Management Board. The purpose of these grants is to improve and enlarge water quality and watershed monitoring activities that are part of the River Watch program in schools located within the Red River of the North watershed. Additionally, the Red River Watershed Management Board is required to report back on how these funds were spent by February 15, 2028, to the commissioner as well as relevant legislative committees.
