This bill is designed to support military veterans and their families by providing funding for retreats at Camp Bliss in Walker, Minnesota. The Minnesota commissioner of veterans affairs will give a grant to Independent Lifestyles Inc., which will organize and manage these retreats. The grant will cover costs for therapy, transportation, activities at the retreat, and general maintenance of the camp. Each veteran or family member who attends and receives services is guaranteed a reimbursement of at least $850, and they can visit up to twice a year.

The bill defines who qualifies as an "eligible veteran" – either a former military member with proof of honorable service, or current armed forces members, whether active or reserve. Family members include a veteran’s spouse, domestic partner, or child.

Financially, the bill allocates $150,000 each for the fiscal years 2026 and 2027 to support this program, adding this amount to the existing budget of the commissioner of veterans affairs.
