This bill mandates that the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board update its standards of conduct to require peace officers to cooperate with investigations conducted by law enforcement agencies that do not employ them. This requirement applies specifically to investigations into use-of-force incidents where the officer being asked to cooperate is not the subject of the investigation or accused of wrongdoing. Additionally, any officer who cooperates as required by this bill is granted immunity from civil or criminal liability for statements or admissions made during their cooperation.
