This bill proposes a two-year moratorium on the formation of new charter schools in Minnesota. It amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124E.06, by adding a provision that prevents the commissioner from approving new charter school applications or allowing existing charter schools to expand by adding grades or sites between July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2027.

However, charter schools that received approval before July 1, 2025, may continue their planning and open as scheduled or expand as previously authorized.
