Purpose

The bill aims to establish the Minnesota Health Care Workforce Advisory Council to address issues related to the health care workforce. The council will provide research, data analysis, and strategic advice to tackle workforce challenges and promote health care equity across Minnesota.

• Creation of Committees: The council will establish committees focusing on specific health workforce issues and will ensure representation from rural and diverse communities.

• Membership and Structure: Composed of 16 members, the council includes legislators, state officials, and appointees by the governor with expertise in health care workforce needs. Appointees will have diverse geographic and demographic backgrounds.

• Roles and Responsibilities: The council will regularly engage stakeholders to prioritize workforce needs and provide ongoing feedback and recommendations on healthcare workforce initiatives and emerging trends.

• Planning and Reporting: A comprehensive workforce plan will be submitted to the legislature every five years, starting January 2027, with interim updates to the governor on progress and emerging workforce needs.
