This legislative bill proposes allocating $15 million from Minnesota's general fund in the fiscal year 2025 to the Minnesota Valley Regional Rail Authority. The purpose of this funding is to repair a section of railroad track between Winthrop and Hanley Falls. The funds can also be used for environmental documentation, fixing or replacing bridges or culverts, and design work related to these improvements. Additionally, a part of this grant can serve as matching funds necessary to qualify for federal grants. This bill adds to previous funds allocated for similar or related projects in various past legislative sessions. The appropriation provided by this bill is a one-time funding and will be available until the project is either completed or cancelled, as per state regulations.
