This bill proposes an appropriation of $750,000 for fiscal year 2026 from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund to the Minnesota Commissioner of Natural Resources. The funds will be used as a grant to the Great Lakes Aquarium for a lake sturgeon project. The project, conducted in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will focus on rearing and stocking lake sturgeon. Additionally, the project will include public education initiatives on the historical, cultural, and biological significance of lake sturgeon in the St. Louis River.
